Gr8 time out there tonight - British Open winds made it interesting. Strong golf played again on the course. Sorry Bob - 11 players, there was a mully (D'oh)!

Over 8 won this weeks under/over.

Next week? what should the U/O be? 11?

I'm working second shift now so no more league for me.

I don't know what the am numbers have been but I would say that if there is a large imbalance between the two divisions, then there are an ass ton of ams who should be "encouraged" to move up.

Also, I think the bridge is a big factor these days. Evangola is a long drive for many as it is. Having to deal with that garbage on the way home is a big deterrent. And many cannot make it to the northern courses in time to play with bridge traffic.

I think that this "encouragement" is what's needed, but that's not going to happen until they're forced (or until next year). Unless the AM league fills this year (every week), there's no reason for those guys to move up because they're in cash positions for the yearly standings. Why would they move up to start from scratch?

We used to run 3 divs in the past (1 for Jrs). Maybe we need an intermediate level, as some of those pro's iz gooood. I'd move up, since I've been playing (not necessarily improving) for about 10 yrs now. But until there's a more 'level' playing field, I choose to continue not to play.

It just takes too long to get to. I have to skip Emery & Evangola, and may not get to do Chestnut either with the current traffic patterns.
Love to be there but work till 5.

anyone think that the league is just too spread out? I mean its cool to include all the courses, but its pretty unrealistic for many people to make it every week when some of the courses are a hour + away for them.

The idea of a rotating league was cool with a few courses, but now I feel like its hurting growth not helping, especially as more courses will be going in the ground.

Is it better to have one big league where many people can only attend some of the weeks, or a few smaller leagues where players can make it every week?

(i have a feeling I'm not the only one thinking this, just the only one who has the nerve to actually say it)

Nope it is not a problem, the main stress is the Bridge,
there are plenty of us that could make it If the Traffic was not so Fubared this year...

Thanks Bob, I still have a chance to get my 5 in so I can play the end of year :D

I know the bridge has been an issue for some of us. I like that the league rotates to different courses so that it is fair to everyone no matter where you live ( i mean driving distance) Where as emery is to far sometimes for me...wilson is to far sometimes for others.. Thats fair. I also like the variety of couses.

As for the open league and am league.. It seems as though there is that large group of people who are stuck in the middle. Unfortunately I know a bunch of people that because of this they decide not to play.. If they move up to open they get killed and donate money.(i understand they would learn to improve there game but the "fun" aspect of the game may get lost to some of these people) If they play am they end up towards the top of the group and are "sandbagging". It is a tough sittuation and I am not sure of the solution.

Maybe form a advanced or intermediate group that plays with the ams so that they can help the true ams out... just an option. I believe that some of the peole playing ams now would end up in that group without question.

No matter how you look at it, MORE PEOPLE is the answer. If you get more AMs, it justifies pushing people up. If you get to the point where you have a large number of intermeditate type players (or if you get a LOT of noobs) then you can create the rec league. Either way, until we have at least 100-120 regulars (or more) you'll never see the full benefit of the split.

As one of the guys who has an hour ride to JD, Wilson, and Evangola...the distances are NOT that big of an issue. Much better than playing every week at the same place.

I'd throw out there that the open players are not THAT much better across the board. AND it's doubles - so your chances are just as good that you'll draw a ringer and get some cash. I didn't think I was ready for open few years back - but once you make the jump it's not all that different.
